Hippo Table

This table explores the intersection of woodworking and textiles, combining contrasting materials into a cohesive and functional design. A glass top, sourced second-hand, and a thrifted fabric shelf reflect our commitment to sustainability when possible. The solid wooden frame is characterized by its chunky legs, inspired by organic forms and the sturdy, grounded presence of a hippo. The fabric shelf introduces softness and flexibility, acting as a tactile space to hold books, magazines, or trinkets. Together, the materials balance strength and delicacy, transparency and texture.

This piece serves not only as a table but as a reflection on making, how materials, form, and intention can come together to create a place to hold, both physically and emotionally.

Imagine a Scuffle

Storytelling through photography, imagining crime scene photos, play with objects to show construction of table's components.

Leftover fabric has been used in other projects, including pillows, a dress, and a miniature, papier-mâché sofa.
